Grants and welfare specialist, Auriga Services, has announced the appointment of two non-executive directors (NEDs).

Mo Ahmed and Nigel Quinton will assist Auriga Services’ continued expansion and strengthen its support to an established portfolio of clients across the UK.

Both non-executive directors bring a wealth of experience to the organisation, including roles in commercial, finance, operations, procurement and IT.

Mo Ahmed has enjoyed senior positions at the likes of BT, HBOS and National Grid, and has a passion for finding value through the transformation of process, products and culture.

A former tutor at an East London school, Mo has personal experience of the issues faced by young people living in deprived communities. It led him to found dedicated after school provision for [inner-city] children, with access to tutoring support, technology, space, support, heat and food.

Mo is joined by qualified accountant, Nigel Quinton. Nigel has held a number of senior positions for financial institutions including building societies, banks and property companies. He was also chairman of two regional building society associations in NABS and MWABS, and is a former member of the Building Society Accounting Panel.

Nigel believes that NEDs should offer a technical sounding board on issues, while maintaining their independence and objectivity. He draws parallels between building societies and Auriga Services in terms of their respective approach to corporate social responsibility and in placing the customer at the centre of what they do.

Auriga Services works on behalf of public and private partners in sectors such as water, energy, local authority, social housing, and charity. It administered more than £42 million in grants and funding streams in 2022 – a 90% increase on the year before.

Auriga Services chief executive, Jill Wheeler said: “We are thrilled that two incredibly experienced and knowledgeable professionals have joined the Board at such an exciting time in our development. We welcome Mo and Nigel who will help us to strengthen our commitment to clients and increase the amount of grants, advice and support that we are able to deliver.

“Businesses have a commitment to deliver social value and Auriga has the ability and specialist team to make that commitment a reality.”

The new appointments succeed Phil Lines, who stepped down in 2023.
