Today’s announcement about energy bills rising in October is a huge blow for millions of families who already struggle to pay their bills each month. With one in 20 people out of work and the winter approaching, this price hike is something that we know will send many individuals further into debt and those who are just about getting by into a more challenging financial situation.

Auriga helps thousands of families and people in vulnerable situations and has given out £4m in emergency fuel vouchers during 2020-2021, to ensure customers don’t go without vital energy services.

We would encourage everyone who thinks that they’re going to be severely affected by the price rise to speak with their utility provider first and chat through any concerns. The sooner people do that the better prepared they will be over the long term.
