Beth is a single parent and lives with her 1 year old daughter. She currently rents a property from her local authority and is in receipt of Universal Credit, Child Benefit as well as bringing in a small income in from a part time role.

Beth had been struggling to make ends meet and after an initial assessment Auriga identified she had energy arrears of £1300 as well as having water arrears. Beth was also frequently relying on a credit card to make purchases. Prior to meeting with the Auriga team, Beth was unaware of how much her accounts were in arrears.

Initially, Auriga completed a benefit check on behalf of Beth, to confirm she was receiving everything that she was entitled to as well as investigating her council tax support to ensure she was receiving the single persons discount. Next, Auriga applied for a grant to support Beth through British Gas Energy Trust. The application was successful awarding Beth with a grant of £1320.82, meaning her energy arrears were cleared in full. Beth has also been signposted for debt advice support to help her with her credit card debt. Once Beth is able to provide Auriga with her water bill, support will be provided to help her clear these arrears.

Beth thanked Auriga for all of the support, commenting it is one less thing for her to worry about.
