Pam is 49 years old and lives alone. Their only income is Employment Support Allowance (ESA). They have been unable to work for a number of years following a diagnosis of Schizophrenia, COPD and social anxiety.
Upon completing an initial assessment with Pam, we identified that they should be in receipt of Personal Independence Payment and began to assess how their health conditions impact them against the PIP scoring descriptors. After completing their PIP and assessment and supporting them in submitting their claim, Pam was awarded the enhanced rate for both daily living and mobility which will see them receive £184.30 a week until 2027.
As well as their recurring award amount, Pam was also awarded a backdated lump sum of £5,000. As well as supporting Pam with their PIP claim, we also helped them to claim the Severe Disability Premium element of ESA which saw their ESA award increase by £81.50 a week indefinitely.
On top of the benefit claims that we helped Pam with, we also helped them with an application to the Big Difference Scheme and were able to support with obtaining a new washing machine as their previous washing machine was regularly leaking which would cause their property to flood. Pam has been very happy with the work that we have completed on their behalf and is very grateful for the appliance that they received as well.
